Survey Drafter

The Survey Drafter works with the Land Surveyor and construction teams to design and develop land surveys in order to construct solar PV projects. The position will be located in our office in St. Paul, MN.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform the necessary CAD drafting tasks to prepare preliminary and final drawings.

  • Conceptualize and design in CAD, as well as communicate effectively within CAD using current industry standards.

  • Prepare plans and sketches as directed by Land Surveyor (ALTA, easement exhibit)

  • Experience with county GIS mapping websites and FEMA mapping

  • Experience with Section breakdowns and legal description writing.

  • Be responsible for the knowledge of regulations, development details and the organization of documents.

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.

  • Complete work within the scope, budget and schedule

  • Plan, execute, and document projects.

  • Communicate and collaborate with team members on all project work.

  • Complete specific quality control tasks at the direction of the Land Surveyor.

  • Seek cost savings through market analysis and eliminating waste.

  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving under frequent deadlines.


Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • Degree in CAD technology (Civil/Surveying preferred)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD software (Civil 3D preferred)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • An interest in solar energy development and design

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Good problem solving and critical thinking abilities and a proactive work ethic. Must take accountability of own body of work, closing each project by design completion efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.

  • Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem solving
