Sales Support Specialist - Part Time

Novel Energy Solutions installs Community Solar Gardens for businesses ranging from family farms to entities with large rooftops or unused land. A CSG is a centralized solar project, connected to the energy grid that provides energy to multiple subscribers. We lease the land for our CSGs from business owners around the state of MN. The sales operations support specialist is responsible for evaluating new opportunity leads and supporting marketing campaigns, assisting field sales and creating proposals, processing signed customer contracts and maintaining company records, helping with routine sales reports, and managing data rooms for asset transactions.

What you’ll do:

Sales Operations supports all field sales departments (CSG Land, CSG Subscription, Onsite Distributed Generation projects, Energy Conservation and New Market Business Development) with this role primarily designated to CSG Land and secondarily to CSG Subscription. Key functions across sales departments are similar and include: 

Record New Leads and Support Active Marketing Campaigns 

  1. Monitor team email address for inbound leads and general inquiries 

  2. Log lead contact information on and assign to regional field sales agent 

  3. Aid Marketing Manager with monitoring effectiveness of active marketing campaigns 

Help Field Sales and Create New Sales Proposals 

  1. Create proposals specific to the sales offer, customer energy consumption and financial goals. Use excel spreadsheet calculators specific to each sales offer to model each customer’s estimated savings.  For onsite DG and CSG Land you will also use solar design and mapping tools such as Helioscope, GIS or Google Earth to draft a layout of the proposed solar array.  

  2. Submit capacity reports to Xcel Energy as needed to evaluate utility hosting capacity 

  3. Verify customer’s contracting information (like customer legal name or property details listed with the county) and draft contracts for field sales to review and send out for signature. 

  4. Report sales metrics to Business Development when there are new market queries and help format RFP materials. Report

Manage Processing of Signed Documents (In-office requirement weekly) 

  1. Manage processing of paper and digital signed documentation with a minimum weekly in-office requirement to scan and upload files to data bases; manage filing of paper copies; print and mail or email return documentation for customers.  

  2. Documentation is maintained across internal team resources and external 3rd party platforms. 

  3. Adobe Acrobat Pro will be used to efficiently manage digital contracts 

Complete Customer Intake, Utility Program Registration, and Handoff to NES departments 

  1. Review contract documentation and enter customer data into data management systems 

  2. Register customer into utility incentive program using the program and utility specific enrollment forms 

  3. Prepare internal documentation and verify data entered prior to handing off to the next NES team.  Handoffs are dependent on the sale type and have unique checklists.

Assist with Loan and Asset Management 

  1. Help to manage documentation and customer information within 3rd party data rooms and spreadsheets. 

  2. Ensure the appropriate materials are complete and uploaded into data rooms at key milestones phases for loan and asset closings. 


Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or sales-related field.  

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a professional and team-driven office environment.

  • Proficient in Adobe Pro and O365 suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team environment.

  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.


Bonus Points!

  • ArcGIS or other mapping software experience.

  • Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign experience.

  • Interest in renewable energy.

  • Outside sales experience.
