Novel Energy Solutions installs Community Solar Gardens for businesses ranging from family farms to entities with large rooftops or unused land. A CSG is a centralized solar project, connected to the energy grid that provides energy to multiple subscribers. We lease the land for our CSGs from business owners around the state of MN. NES is looking for a dedicated, ambitious, and experienced Sales Associate to represent the company in a professional and polite manner while educating prospects and customers on the value of our products and services.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with Sales Support to review and prepare target sales locations that are in Xcel Energy territories. These territories are prioritized by substation capacity and permitting details.

  • Prepare lease agreements for yourself and other land sales staff, serving as the final set of eyes to make sure land agreements are valid and able to be executed correctly

  • Prepare maps and other presentation materials for meetings with landowners

  • Negotiate and close land agreements with landowners, with either lease or purchase options

    • Travel as needed, with company car, to complete this work

  • Serve as the lead operations person for mapping and updating Land Acquisition Process Map

  • Maintain and Update the Training Materials and Sales Packets

    • Schedule regular meetings to get the team to generate improvement ideas and incorporate ideas into the process, like the monthly feedback sessions

  • Manage the handoff of a newly signed land site to Project Development (PD)

    • Work with the PD Project Manager to ensure their team has the necessary information to start diligence and utility application

    • Identify site layout information so PD can get utility IC drawings created

    • Oversee and work with Sales Support on land-related matters

  • Refine methods to reduce customer acquisition cost without sacrificing quality

  • Provide insight and suggestions to NES team when appropriate

  • Communicate key metrics to the COO and your sales manager

  • Maintain current driver’s license

 

Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • 3-5 years of combined experience in real estate and/or right of way

  • Sales experience preferred, but drive, work ethic, and team fit are essential. We are willing to train the right person

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team environment

  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite 

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Bonus Points!

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field 

  • Experience in renewable energy

  • Outside sales experience
