Novel Energy Solutions installs Community Solar Gardens for businesses ranging from family farms to entities with large rooftops or unused land. A CSG is a centralized solar project, connected to the energy grid that provides energy to multiple subscribers. We build these CSGs projects using our in-house team of trained and certified crew members. NES is looking for a dedicated, ambitious, and experienced Project Manager to oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of Solar Photovoltaic projects, including the research, design, development, building and testing of the Solar Photovoltaic systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports related to solar photovoltaic (PV) projects  

  • Work with Design Engineer to research, evaluate, install, and operate mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements

  • Support management of on‐site construction of PV projects to conform to the design and contract documents and the national and local building codes including the National Electric Code.

  • Provide management support for the design of solar PV projects, including management of outside consultant disciplines such as surveying, civil, environmental, landscaping, geotechnical, structural, and electrical.

  • Support, plan, schedule, and execute the construction of solar PV projects to meet project schedules. Assist the Superintendent in developing and tracking the project schedule and confirm the availability of material to maintain the schedule.

  • Support tasks related to management of employees, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.

  • Evaluate bids and proposals, prepare Purchase Orders, and subcontractor contracts.

  • Support the Director of Construction in the preparation of the EPC construction budget. Participate as requested in budget review meetings with senior management.

  • Support safe work practices including OSHA standards, company safety programs, and policies relative to the installation of these systems. Support enforcement of safety standards established by the client and the company to manage risk and achieve safety and health goals of no incidents and no lost time due to injury and no property damage.

  • Support Director of Construction regarding document control, design review, product literature review and approval, interconnection agreement implementation, model codes review and regulations.

  • Support Director of Construction directives and assignments related to quality control, commissioning, and completion.

  • Update solar PV project CPM schedules and two‐week look‐ahead schedules.

  • Manage the Quality Control program for a solar PV project, including collaboration with fellow Project Managers, subcontractors, consultants, vendors and other QC professionals.

  • Work with the Project Development team to manage coordination with solar PV project interconnecting utility.

  • Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance team at solar PV project commissioning and close‐out.

 

Our Ideal Candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field

  • Two years minimum of supervisory experience in construction and/or renewable energy

  • Experience working on solar construction

  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work 

  • Proficiency with reading blueprints, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

 

Bonus Points!

  • OSHA 30 certification 

  • Proficiency with Gantt charts and/or Smartsheets

  • Experience with Viewpoint by Vista software

  • PMP Certification
